ANIMATED GIFS!
that said, brian, can i please have dancing puppies on all of my pages? instead of ads? can you make a button that i can toggle that will put puppies on? some people might want puppies and that is not an option right now.
@Alexa I would like a sandwich, please go make me one.
Srsly, come on guys, I'm just making a request for what I'd like on vinovas, that's what this thread is for.
That's over 6 months ago. And Brian did say it was coming, in a month.
And most people know that a hobby is different to a professional, but the same rules apply to both of them.
to your first two sentences: it's your freaking tone. you can't just come into our community and start making demands, insulting people's work..it all just adds up. we're a small and pretty tight community. we're really welcoming, but we don't put up with people who bring in a bunch of negativity. DA may have a high bullshit tolerance, but we don't, and that's just one reason (of many) why this community is better.
And yes, doing cycles does take a while, and hobby programming is much different. Especially professional system programming on a cluster. There's a lot more thought that has to go into development than just the features alone.
That being said, there's also the paying of bills. It costs quite a bit to run the site and naturally the projects that make money have to come before bug releases or feature tweaks that benefit almost nobody. There are a lot of things on the list ahead of animated GIFs, and I can say for sure that a sandwich isn't one of them.
I can see what Brian said bit I still don't see anything wrong with posting a request in thew bugs and suggestions.
I don't think the animated gif. thing would even have come to his attention if I hadn't posted because I don't think anyone has done it before.
It's not a demand. I put things bluntly because I don't like wasting words. And if it's about the negativity thing I've already apologized.
Seriousley, stop trying to pick a fight with me.
< This guy has.

er... hobby ≠ pro-style dev cycle. also, that was a reaction to your "please make it work" comment and the fact that you've now requested it twice when Brian already said it's coming. it's a bit more complicated than him just flipping a switch to "make it work."Deleted User on June 21st, 2010 at 1:47:36 AM
I posted my initial request on 6th of December LAST YEAR.That's over 6 months ago. And Brian did say it was coming, in a month.

I really don't want to have an argument about this. It's pretty stupid, and not worth it.Katie on June 22nd, 2010 at 12:22:49 AM
to your last sentence on your first comment: i disagree. first of all, brian does this site in his spare time, and he works A LOT, so it's not like he can just magically whip up whatever is requested. give him a break. second of all, the code is organized by release - it's not something that just gets updated constantly. if you don't see something that Brian said was going into the next release, be patient, because he didn't just forget. he's probably busy making a living. plus, he announces when there have been updates pushed, so if you don't see that, it hasn't happened yet. i believe that it was explained to you already that this site is run by one person who only has 24 hours in his day.to your first two sentences: it's your freaking tone. you can't just come into our community and start making demands, insulting people's work..it all just adds up. we're a small and pretty tight community. we're really welcoming, but we don't put up with people who bring in a bunch of negativity. Katie, you're wrong on one count; I can do fun stuff off-cycle like comment and forum post banning which I just whipped up and rolled out. It'll be a shame if I have to stick any user IDs into the list though. And yes, doing cycles does take a while, and hobby programming is much different. Katie, I'm not trying to 'bullshit' anyone. If you noticed the second comment I posted, I really don't want to argue. I'm not trying to prove a point, but it appears you are.I can see what Brian said bit I still don't see anything wrong with posting a request in thew bugs and suggestions.

Hey, animated gif. format still isn't supported. Please make it work. My latest piece is just a dodgey white line without thumbnail.
