How did you find subVariance?
So I went looking for a bright and shiny upstart. And here I am at sV!
Another two accounts were banned/suspended for flamewars I didn't start or even participate in, one I in fact tried to end. From what I understand the moderators in both cases just closed the offending threads and banned/suspended everyone that posted in them.
And finally on many accounts I've had deviantions removed for "submission of deviations to categories that they do not belong in...". Mostly photos, which could have gone in any number of categories.
All in all I've had about 5 accounts banned from dA in the past 3 years, and 7 in the past 5 years.

Yeah, that would be the sensible thing to do. But who needs to be sensible when you can be a raging hardon? I tried to argue with them about the placement guidlines and even re-uploaded images to where I felt they belonged. They cried Site Abuse and banned my account.
"...Banishment may be removed upon staff review in such cases determined eligible by staff, and staff alone. Requests to be unbanned from the deviantART community will be ignored."
Even if the community backs you, you got a snowballs chance in hell since the staff rarely even looks at case.
as for the whole deviantart banning subject; I've had my account, never been banned. though I never payed attention to the forums at all. and only posted comments every now and then.
was very happy when i clicked that link
I come here hoping to find better
Now; if I could get her to join, that would be awesome. But she is taking a break from everything right now. So hopefully within time.
I have never had any experience with buying or selling artwork, so I may have misunderstood something. Still, I just did not like the overall atmosphere or dA and the fact that they act as if your art work belongs to them.

Well one day, not so long ago, i was bored and so i decided i wanted somewhere i could upload my photos. i didnt want to use dA because of the potentially dodgy stuff that i'd heard of going on there, so i did a google search for 'alternative to deviantArt' and was linked to this site. it seemed simple and user friendly so i joined and am pleased i did, cant wait for the next update/version.:)TrueEnemy on January 31st, 2006 at 5:08:03 AM
About the same for me. I got tired of all BS thats happened to me at dA. I've have had at least one new account banned every year since 2001. A few of them subscription accounts. So I went looking for a bright and shiny upstart. And here I am at sV!

Out of curiosity, what did they say they were banning your accounts for? I've heard so many horror stories related to DA's staff and moderators.TrueEnemy on February 1st, 2006 at 11:23:28 PM
One account was banned for "Accusations of bannable offenses, questions or comments regarding specific administrative actions..." which was total bullshit. I had simply posted a comment to the effect of 'I wish crap like this could be banned'. The deviant had posted a rather offensive Paint drawing involving Native Americans. It's my guess dA didn't even bother looking at the case very well.Another two accounts were banned/suspended for flamewars I didn't start or even participate in, one I in fact tried to end. That is bizarre. Shouldn't they have simply moved the submission to the appropriate category and notified you instead of deleting it altogether?TrueEnemy on February 2nd, 2006 at 10:03:39 PM

But this is my most favorite part of their rule system..."...Banishment may be removed upon staff review in such cases determined eligible by staff, and staff alone. Requests to be unbanned from the deviantART community will be ignored."
Even if the community backs you, you got a snowballs chance in hell since the staff rarely even looks at case.

I found sV when I correctly typed it into the address bar at the top of my screen. (pressed enter of course)JayDickson on April 14th, 2006 at 9:07:38 AM
I found the site through Digg after i left deviantART in disgust of where the community had progressed. The Jark incident put the last nail in the coffin... he was not only a founder, but also one of the last good admins left.I come here hoping to find better

On the topic of DA bullcrap: my mom was just banned today because she was providing legal information to the administration's opposition. (at least that's why i assume they ousted her, she hadn't actually posted on the site in weeks)Hittin on May 27th, 2006 at 5:45:12 PM
Umm, there's this guy called "Einhanderkiller", and he posted a link to one of his artwork on this site, so i thought, why not join? And here i am....quatre on June 4th, 2006 at 8:20:53 AM
I frequented another channel on the same IRC server as #subvariance. I clicked the link in the topic and BAM!Serenity on June 26th, 2006 at 5:50:02 AM
Einhanderkiller on a site I frequent linked his artwork to here. That's pretty much how I found out about this place.Audeamous on July 9th, 2006 at 12:50:24 AM
A friend of mine was surfing the web looking for an alternative to DA and suggested this link to me. Considering DA's regulations are a little tight, I thought that I would try SV. So far; all is going well. I'm glad my friend showed me the link. Now; if I could get her to join, that would be awesome. But she is taking a break from everything right now. So hopefully within time.

As a user of mIRC, I came across the channel for this site. I then proceeded to observing the site. After coming to the conclusion that I liked the site, I joined. I am new!Shadowfire on May 28th, 2007 at 2:59:01 AM
I joined subVariance because I did not like how aA was handling art sales. If someone puts in an order for your piece, the moderators can decided to not let them buy it as part of "quality control."I have never had any experience with buying or selling artwork, so I may have misunderstood something. Still, I just did not like the overall atmosphere or dA and the fact that they act as if your art work belongs to them.

Just out of curiosity, how did you discover the subVariance community? Brian and I would answer, but our responses to that question might seem a little obvious. ;-)
