I just got CS2

leitjaxon on December 31st, 1969 at 5:00:00 PM

Does anyone use Photoshop CS2? It's definitely awesome, not an incredible upgrade from CS but still really awesome.

Erin on September 15th, 2005 at 4:36:57 AM

I haven't used it. In fact, I haven't even used CS at much length. I like PS7 the best, but probably because I'm most comfortable with it. Eventually I'll acquire CS2 to mess with it, but something tells me I'll just go back to 7.

drpfenderson on September 15th, 2005 at 5:21:26 AM

After using both PS 7 and CS extensively, I know I could never go back to 7. CS has such fantastic photo-editing abilities.

I tried CS2 for a while, but it killed my system resources. And, not really a noticable difference. So - yeah.

My vote will always be for CS.

I'm still in high school, and could never afford a legitamate copy of Adobe's flagship software. I'm proud to say that I haven't pirated since I purchased Photoshop Elements 2.0, and I am pleased with it (and myself).

WildBill on September 15th, 2005 at 7:19:24 AM

I just have Photoshop 8 CS. Having 24.4K dialup isn't fun for pirating Photoshop.

I just uploaded something I created with it.

What?

Me pirate?

Heh.

I picked up the educational version of CS2. I have always been impressed with Adobe products, so when I got the money to legitimetly buy it, I did. I had to support them somehow...

drpfenderson on September 15th, 2005 at 9:24:53 AM

I used to, but got sick of their support and said "Screw it".

I use CS2 in one of my classes. And at home i love it

Scoria on September 15th, 2005 at 11:04:54 PM

I've been using Photoshop since 4.0 in 1996. I'd speculate that I've spent more time using it than most other software. ;-)

Still think 6's is best!!!

Some of the crap they put in 7 and cs kills my productivity, and my inner child.

If i need vector tools I'll go to Illustrator. Last good version of that was 9.

mindfire on September 16th, 2005 at 9:37:31 PM

I like my CS, CS2 just seems to be more of a system hog with few features.

blue_halo on September 19th, 2005 at 2:29:58 PM

We got CS2 not too long after it's release at my office and I instantly fell in love. I'm currently a 7 user, and I love the new stuff you can do with it, though it mostly comes in handy when doing photo edits. Not too sure how much the new stuff would help with the stuff I do for fun. I hear that Photoshop 4 was the last best version, something like it had the best color? I remember someone telling me they cheapened it with ver 5 because they were aiming at a different audience.

Brian on September 19th, 2005 at 10:57:18 PM

For me, CS2 runs a lot better than CS did. I used to get the occasional hang when working with 4GB images, but since using CS2, I've had none.

Scoria on September 20th, 2005 at 7:57:44 AM

I have Photoshop 4.0, and I must admit that their development philosophy appeared to change with the 5.0 release. If you consider the timing of the release itself, however, the Adobe team must have been realizing the importance of catering to Web developers.

Which one eats up more system resources... CS1 or CS2? I'm wondering whether to upgrade from my current CS1...

CS2 does have its cool features, the most prominent to me so far is the layer grouping~

warchild690 on May 19th, 2007 at 12:39:30 AM

I learned on CS2, But now I have moved up to CS3, wich I love. Not a whole lot more features than CS2, But I still got it. I haven't really noticed any system hogage though.

Brian on May 24th, 2007 at 4:34:57 AM

I really want a copy of CS3 but I can't afford it quite yet...

GoDonatello on October 10th, 2007 at 1:33:42 AM

I just got CS2, rarely use it though, but it is an awesome program.

themollusk on September 7th, 2008 at 7:56:32 AM

I'm a fan of both CS and 7, but I'm too poor to upgrade to CS2 currently.

What upgrades does it have? Do you know any specifics offhand?

GraphicArtist2k5 on December 9th, 2008 at 9:39:12 PM

i personally love cs2 versus cs. one major reason is the fact that in cs, you can't zoom in and out using the scroll wheel on the mouse. i checked that in-depth on photoshop cs, under edit>preferences, and i couldn't find it. i know, it sounds like a superficial thing, but once you get used to being able to zoom in and out using the scroll wheel, you're gonna use it all the time. also, i like the perspective filter in cs2, as well as the patch tool, and healing brush tool, which works WAY better than the clone stamp tool.

Keith on December 9th, 2008 at 11:17:50 PM

I wouldn't say it's superficial at all. I took it for granted until I got mad at the program one day and broke my mouse... now the scroll wheel doesn't work so I gotta manually zoom in and out. Major pain.

GraphicArtist2k5 on December 11th, 2008 at 1:20:43 AM

holy crap! someone actually visits this site besides me! i was starting to think that i was the only person here....

Keith on December 11th, 2008 at 9:29:04 AM

You are. I'm just an AI.

nycterent on December 17th, 2008 at 7:21:18 AM

I have to deal with a laptop. No scroll mouse there at all; it's been a pain to get used to.

GraphicArtist2k5 on April 26th, 2009 at 2:38:19 AM

Just buy a usb mouse, and you won't have to use the trackpad. i have to say that cs2 is a necessary upgrade from cs. maybe there aren't any major changes between cs and cs2, but the features i like most about cs2 that are not in cs is imagewarp, the ability to zoom in and out using the scroll wheel on my mouse, and the perspective filter, or whatever the heck it's called. eventually, i'm gonna use cs4, but if the new computer i get won't run it, then i'll stick with either cs2 or cs3.
