Load Times and Overall Site Speed

How is it for you?

drpfenderson on September 15th, 2005 at 9:02:29 AM

Fantastically fast.

I'm getting almost instant page loads. Looks great.

Scoria on September 15th, 2005 at 9:39:53 AM

That's exactly what we're going for. Thank you!

I just need to comment on this again -

I'm whirling around the site at breakneck speed getting so much stuff done in such a small amount of time.

It's a breath of fresh air.

The only thing that could make this better is the UI features that I already know are coming.

Kudos.

There are few to no graphics except for the actual content and avatars. As erissiva has said already, load times pretty much don't exist, and I'm certainly not on the fastest connection ever.

Load times? What load times? ;)

There are absolutely no load times for me, at all. I'm on broadband, but the average load time for deviantART is 5-10 seconds, so that's pretty terrible considering my connection speed, whereas subVariance takes less than a second to load at maximum.

Excellent.

I'd say the speed is great, pages load almost upon link click. Really amazing, especially when compaired to DA.

Exun on September 20th, 2005 at 12:26:00 PM

Yes subvariance loads fast (access from Germany with DSL), thats absolutely nice. I personally think when there are more people invoking this site like DA the loadtime will be increase rigorous. More hits - more traffic - more loadtime etc.

drpfenderson on September 20th, 2005 at 8:38:57 PM

Exun - Oddly enough, I actually think the large DA loadtimes have to do with the layout. I have customized the layout so that the CSS is loaded into my browser, and load times for DA pages are close to instant. Not as fast as here, but close.

Could have something to do with 14,000,000 people trying to load 'dastyle.css' every second.

load times have been great for me.

keep up the great work!

Works really great currently! Anticipating the next speed gauging when the site expands even further.
