a little on "subVariance"

It seems this community takes on the image of a baby DA. I do hope it doesn't amalgamate into the customs of the ever abhorred DA; for this would be very unfortunate for most of those who resorted to such a peachy and promising little community.

It is my belief that this site will be handled on a more intellectual level than DA, and I don't see any portentious signs of total anime takeover. Perhaps we will see fair distribution of the different forms of art in our world. Quite possibly, this site may prove to be the very dessimation of "popolarity" found in DA where a classic or traditionist artist may find ominous results from the so-called opportunity to exposure.

Anyway, here's to a revelation in online art sites.

No need to worry. It has come to my attention by the programmer that they are including a complex filtering system that will allow you to block genres, users and various other things to help personalize the experience.

I think were in for a DA crusher here.

i really hope so, it's been one problem after another with DA, you have to only have anime to get comments, and god forbid if you dont view a users whole gallery if they comment one of your works

>.<

yes! Especially if they leave a lame comment like "thats cool".

I don't think you guys will have to worry then, as I myself have an extreme hatred towards anime and the so-called "art" involved in producing it, and I'm not the only one. I think if the people who run this site are biased in any way, at least it's in the right direction. It's in good hands.

Yeah fuck DA. I made the mistake of trying to become a part of the "community" and found out what they wanted is you to follow there way like a bunch of MAC Nazi's. Its their way or no way.

you do know that DA is just a website, right? "they" can't make you, or anyone else, do ANYTHING you don't want to do. if you don't like the site, then DON'T VISIT IT, and don't post your artwork there. anime' style art is just a fad, but then again, it DOES take real talent to create anime' art, just as it takes real talent to create every other style and type of art.

Keith on April 26th, 2009 at 3:21:36 AM

It does? I suppose it takes real talent to write your name? That's all anime is - A universal series of shapes and lines that can be applied to any new piece of "art" to "create" (rip off/copy) what they think looks like people. It's the easiest "art" to replicate. Where's the originality or creativity there? In fact, writing your name is even more specialized. Anime looks the same in Japan as in anywhere else. Words don't.

Seriously? Do you think I'm an idiot? Of course I know it's just a site, one that happens to bare the word "art" in its title. God forbid I expect a substantial percentage of reasonably thought out and legitimate ART from a place called deviantART. You might as well have just told me to stop being. What the hell does saying "then don't go there" do for anyone frustrated with how the place is run?

Take your shit attitude back to DA, if you haven't anything in your stubborn head that allows you to relate with those who are constantly brushed in the corner by the elitist jackasses who don't offer hardly any contribution to the intellectual aspect of what art is.

and yes, I've seen great anime art, but deviantart isn't the place to be to find it out in the open.
