Ahh yes, more self-portraits. And this, if I do say so myself, is my strangest.
Very hesitant about posting this, because I don't know what to think of it! It's just odd.
The title comes from the song Baby Blue by one of my favourite artists, Emiliana Torrini.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, since it's definitely not like what I normally post.
Things I had to keep in mind, and do in order for this shot to work.
1. I had to try and get the camera's macro mode to focus on the magnifying glass.
2. I had to hold the incredibly heavy magnifying glass with very shaky hands.
3. I had to find an angle to try and keep the reflection of the camera/tripod and lightbulb out of the shot.
4. The lightbulb was hanging above my head, just out of frame, 100 watts, and I felt like my scalp was on fire.
5. I had to keep my eye on the reflection of the LCD in the mirror.
6. I had 2 seconds to get everything ready in frame after pressing the button/timer on my camera.
7. While I had 2 seconds to get ready after pressing the button and adjusting my shoulders, I had to quickly look at the mirror, to see if my mouth was centered enough in the magnifying glass.
8. I had to make sure nothing 'unexpected' popped out of my corset.
9. My lips were going numb from holding their position.
10. My hands have somewhat of a weak grip, and I couldn't hold onto the magnifying glass for too long.
Overall... This was an incredibly difficult shot.
