Description:
A comic I was working from the characters of on before school became hectic.
Each shot, like I said, has a different background and type of perspective. No refs were used on any of these, save the second panel here in which I took a pick of mah belleh flaaaab. What? It’s WINTER… too cold to exercise outside. Both Warden and Jared show more variety in emotion with more subtle changes in between within this comic. Alice, and Jailbot however don’t really since Alice is apathetic and Jailbot’s just chillin’ in this issue.
When it comes to the backgrounds, Jared’s panels (which are the first 5+ not shown here) are cold and somewhat bleak. The ones with Warden and so on are a little warmer and vibrant, just trying to complement the characters. It’s always important to show variety in the backgrounds colors and angles depending on whom the story’s focusing. For example, in the other sketched pages (which I need to upload) Warden’s seen at dynamic angles when talking to Jared, we see things from his height level. From Warden’s view, Jared’s depicted as small and weak. Kind of the same method I used for the previous comic, but a little more noticeable.
Oh! Interesting thing on the background. At first the walls were red, but it didn’t connect well with the summer mood I was going for and it didn’t have the whimsical ambiance of Superjail. So the ceiling is actually an ocean above their heads. The wall’s décor is retro colored coral reefs and sand, with the floor being tiled with sand stone. Pieces used to compose the backgrounds will be uploaded on my blogger for those interested. I’m going to regret making all these settings so detailed….
